Position: Academic Workshop Advisor (AWA)
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced educator to join our team as a Academic Workshop Advisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding students in choosing classes, building character, and building academic skills throughout the school year.
As the Middle School AWA, the Employee is an academic role model and leader for building character, skills, and abilities in the students assigned to their classes. By following the policies set in the School Handbook – student, staff and parent common policies – the AWA guides students to a positive path to success using the school’s systems fairly and evenly. Classes are the main means for conveying lessons, topics, and points of growth for the students which means that the MS AWA’s classroom is at times structured along the core of progressive academic skills and abilities, but also dynamic and student-centered based on identified needs or values of healthy school life that may need to be reinforced.
Designing weekly lessons may include the provided curriculum from Second Step and other acquired resources, cooperation with the school Counselor on certain important topics and events, vertical alignment with the High School AWA, the inclusion of the Dean of Students if/when needed, and on an annual basis review the progress of the program for refinement to grow with the students and their needs in AWS.
