The Language Education Center at the University of Ulsan is hiring a native English-speaking instructor
Job Details
- Position: Native English-speaking instructor
- Number of Hires: One
- Contract Length: One year, renewable for up to six years based on evaluation.
Qualifications
- Native English speaker.
- B.A. or higher degree from a four-year college in an English-speaking country.
- Candidates with a degree in English, Linguistics, TESOL, or Education are preferred, as is prior teaching experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Regular Semesters: Teach 15 credit-course hours per week (typically 16–18 hours). This includes 4–8 hours of non-credit courses, which are counted as overtime. You must also hold two office hours per week.
- Summer/Winter Sessions: Teach 60 class hours per session.
- Other: Assist with program operations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: Approximately ₩30,000,000–₩32,000,000 before taxes and insurance. This includes a regular salary of ₩27,860,000 and an estimated ₩2,000,000–₩4,000,000 in overtime pay.
- Housing: A fully-furnished studio apartment (49–73㎡) near the university is provided. Maintenance fees and utility costs are deducted from your salary. Photos are available here.
- Vacation: 4–6 weeks of paid vacation in the summer and winter.
- Office: A personal office on campus with a computer, printer, phone, and supplies.
- Insurance: The university pays for 50% of your medical insurance and National Pension Plan.
- Bonuses: You’ll receive a ₩500,000 bonus for each contract renewal and a severance package equal to one month’s regular salary at the completion of each 12-month contract.
- Airfare: A one-way ticket to your home country is provided at the end of your final contract.
