The Geppert School of International Studies of Sogang University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position (non-Korean) at the level of Assistant Professors of International Relations (국제관계전공) and International Commerce Majors (국제통상전공) to begin September 2024. These Tracks include any of International Relations, International Economics, Finance, and International Business studies.
- Qualifications
*Applicants must be eligible for appointment according to the regulations governing private universities and must have a doctoral degree in the relevant field by the appointment start date.
*Applicants should have non-Korean citizenship. (Multiple citizenship holders are eligible)
*Applicants must demonstrate the capability to teach all courses in English.
1) Ph.D. degree in Political Science, International Relations, (International) Economics, Finance, (International) Business or a closely allied discipline (정치학, 국제관계학, (국제)경제학, (국제)경영학, 금융 관련 전공 박사 학위 소지자)
2) Evidence of teaching excellence and high-quality research
3) Ability and willingness to teach students whose native language is not English
4) Capacity to advise students and take on administrative responsibilities

From March 21, 10:00a.m. to April 5, 2024, 5:00p.m. local time in Seoul.

*All the application packets should be submitted in a single email with a subject of “Application for Professors of (a choice of your track between International Relations/International Commerce): (Your Name Here)” e.g., “Application for Professors of International Relations: Hong, Gil-Dong”

2) Publication List(attached, qualified publications dated no earlier than April 5, 2021, including Ph.D. dissertation)
3) Self-introduction Form(attached)
4) A PDF file containing the first page of all publications for the past three years(since March 1, 2021)
5) An acceptance letter(only if you have a forthcoming publication that will be published within a few months of the application due date)
(2) Stage II
* This only concerns successfully shortlisted applicants: (Candidates successfully shortlisted will receive further instructions at a later time)
(3) Stage III
– No particular documents need to be submitted. This only applies to successful candidates from Stage II, who will be notified individually.
- Further Remarks
1) Application documents MUST be submitted via email. Application Number will be emailed only for successful applications. If you do not receive your Application Number within 48 hours, please contact us.
2) Documents in foreign languages other than English should be accompanied by Korean translations.
3) The application will be rejected if there are any missing documents.
4) In the event of an unqualified applicant being discovered subsequently to have been accepted or hired on the basis of false information provided in the application form or falsification of supporting documents, the acceptance or hiring will be canceled.
5) Submitted documents will not be returned to applicants.
6) The results of each stage of the evaluation will be notified individually by email.
7) Applicants who have family members as full-time professors at the Geppert School of International Studies cannot be hired.
8) Positions may not be filled if there are no satisfactory applicants.
9) Any matters not specified above will be handled according to university regulations.
