Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with school objectives and reflects the developmental needs and interests of prep and secondary school students.
• Plan engaging lessons that introduce students to a variety of artistic mediums, techniques, styles, and cultural influences.
• Integrate art education with other subjects to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences and promote creative thinking across the curriculum.
Instruction and Assessment:
• Provide hands-on instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage, and other art forms, adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Teach fundamental art concepts, principles, and vocabulary, while encouraging students to experiment, take risks, and express themselves artistically.
• Assess students’ artistic growth and understanding through observation, critique, reflection, and portfolio assessment.
Classroom Management:
• Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel inspired, respected, and supported in their artistic endeavors.
• Set clear expectations and guidelines for behavior, safety, and studio procedures, ensuring that materials and resources are used responsibly and effectively.
• Organize and maintain art supplies, equipment, and facilities to facilitate student creativity and ensure a safe and organized learning environment.
Collaboration:
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and other staff to integrate art into interdisciplinary units, thematic studies, and school-wide projects.
• Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events to share ideas, resources, and best practices in art education.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students’ progress, achievements, and opportunities for artistic enrichment.
Exhibitions and Events:
• Organize and curate art exhibitions, displays, and showcases to celebrate students’ artistic achievements and foster a sense of pride and community.
• Coordinate with school administration and community partners to showcase student artwork in public venues, galleries, or online platforms.
• Provide guidance and support to students participating in art competitions, contests, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related field (preferred).
• Teaching certification/license in art education (where applicable).
• Prior experience teaching art to prep and secondary school students preferred.
• Proficiency in various art mediums, techniques, and processes suitable for prep and secondary school-aged children.
• Strong knowledge of art history, aesthetics, and cultural diversity in art.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students to explore their creativity, develop their artistic skills, and appreciate the value of art in society.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for working with children and fostering their artistic growth.
• Those who require visa sponsorship must have citizenship of the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or South Africa
Working Conditions:
The art teacher typically works during regular school hours, with additional time required for lesson planning, preparation, and participation in extracurricular activities as well as various duties. They may work in an art studio, classroom, or dedicated art space within the school, depending on available facilities. Collaboration with colleagues and attendance at school events may involve occasional evening or weekend hours.

To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom the teacher is responsible, or with whom he/she encounters, and to adhere to and ensure compliance with Badminton Korea’s Safeguarding Policy at all times. If, during carrying out the duties of the post, the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school, any concerns must be reported to the school’s Principal in accordance with Badminton Korea’s policies and procedures
