The Korea Military Academy (KMA) is an elite military institution dedicated to fostering future leaders of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Army. We provide a rigorous educational environment with a maximum class size of 20 cadets to support in-depth, one-on-one education.

Job Description

KMA is seeking a full-time English instructor for a non-tenure track position.

• Main Responsibilities:
  1. Be on campus from 08:00 to 15:00, four days a week, and teach 6–16 hours per week during the semester.
  2. Teach undergraduate English elective and graduate requirement courses and participate in developing instructional programs.
  3. Translate and/or edit departmental-related materials in English.
  4. Develop curricula, design materials, create assessments, and participate in recording audio-visual aids.
  5. Teach winter intensive courses as required.

Requirements

• Applicants must be available for pre-semester orientation. The contract start date is negotiable but no later than August 21st.
• Applicants must be from one of the seven English-speaking countries according to E-2 visa requirements. F-2, F-4, and F-6 visa holders are also encouraged to apply if they meet the English educator background. KMA does not sponsor E-1 visas.
• Applicants must be currently living in Korea with an acceptable visa (e.g., E-2).
• Preference is given to applicants with:
  • Familiarity with the military or military-related institutions.
  • A certificate in English language teaching such as TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA.
  • A master’s degree or higher in a relevant field of English language instruction.
  • More than three years of teaching experience.
  • Experience in teaching English pronunciation.
  • Experience in evaluating English proficiency exams.

Benefits

• Salary: ₩2,700,000 KRW per month (before tax and fees).
• Insurance: Employees will be enrolled in National Pension and National Health Insurance. KMA will pay for half, and the employee will pay half through a salary deduction. F visa holders will also be enrolled in National Unemployment Insurance.
• Housing: A three-bedroom apartment (for married applicants) or a studio (for singles) will be provided. (Deposit and management/utility fees not included).
• Severance: A severance pay of ₩2,700,000 KRW will be paid at the expiration of each contract.
• Facilities: Access to sports facilities at KMA, including two gyms, a 6-lane swimming pool, tennis courts, badminton courts, basketball courts, and football fields.
• Paid vacation: 21 days.

  1. Resume (or CV)
  2. Personal Questionnaire (use the provided form)
  3. A copy of your transcripts from your most recent degree (original must be submitted upon signing the contract).
  4. A copy of your diploma(s) (original must be submitted upon signing the contract; E-2 visa holders must have an apostille).
  5. A copy of other certifications (TESOL, CELTA, etc.).
  6. A copy of the information pages of your passport.
  7. A copy of the front and back of your Alien Registration Card.
  8. A copy of your most recent FBI criminal background check.
• Submit the attached form “Request for Criminal Record Check (성범죄 경력 조회 동의서)”, printed, filled out, and scanned into a separate PDF.
• Submit the “Certificate of Alien Registration (외국인등록 사실증명)”, issued from your local community center, scanned into a PDF.
