Dorm Proctor (Boys)

Job Title: Proctor – Boys’ Dormitory
Location: St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju (SJA Jeju), South Korea
Salary: $25,000 USD per annum
Contract Type: Full-time, 1-year contract (includes a 3-month probation period)
Reports To: Director of Residential Life
Start Date: August 2025 (subject to visa issuance)

Position Overview

St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju (SJA Jeju) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Proctor to join our Residential Life team. This role is central to supporting the well-being, safety, and personal growth of our boarding students in the Boys’ Dormitory. The ideal candidate is responsible, enthusiastic, and committed to creating a positive and inclusive dorm environment. This is a live-in position.

Key Responsibilities

Student Supervision and Safety:
Ensure the safety and well-being of students through active supervision, enforcement of dormitory policies, and consistent support during evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.

Community Building:
Foster a welcoming, respectful, and supportive dorm environment that encourages positive relationships among students.

Mentorship and Support:
Serve as a role model and mentor for students, offering guidance in academic, social, and emotional matters.

Activity Coordination:
Organize and participate in recreational and educational programs, weekend activities, and events to enhance the student experience.

Emergency Response:
Respond calmly and efficiently to medical, behavioral, or facility-related emergencies, following school protocols.

Team Collaboration:
Work closely with fellow proctors, faculty, and the Residential Life Director to ensure consistent communication and effective dorm management.

Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records related to student check-in/out, room inspections, incident reporting, and behavioral concerns.

Professional Engagement:
Attend staff meetings and training sessions to ensure best practices in student care and professional development.

Working Hours

• Average of 40 hours per week
• Includes assigned evening and weekend shifts on a rotational basis
• Flexibility is required during special events and the start/end of term transitions

Three meals per day provided on school days

Flight Allowance:
Arrival, annual, and separation flight benefits (conditions apply)

Baggage Allowance:
Up to USD 500 for relocation expenses

Visa Sponsorship:
E-7 visa and associated medical check costs covered by the school

Leave:
Paid annual leave during school breaks, as per the school calendar
Sick leave and compassionate leave available per school policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (required)
• Experience working with adolescents in a residential, educational, or youth program setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Commitment to student-centered care and positive discipline practices
• Cross-cultural awareness and willingness to live in an international boarding environment
